Here are the latest reports on China says committed to probing political scandal
BEIJING (AP) — China’s ruling Communist Party says it is committed to probing a political scandal that includes an investigation into the suspected murder of a British businessman. The statement by the official Xinhua News Agency on Wednesday follows appeals from Britain’s senior politicians for a swift investigation that is free from political meddling. Prime Minister David Cameron and Foreign Secretary William Hague both held talks with China’s propaganda chief, Li Changchun, during his visit to Britain and demanded assurances over inquiries into the death of Briton Neil Heywood. That’s a sign of the extraordinary international aspects attached to the dismissal of powerful politician Bo…

Here are the latest reports on Norway killer expounds on fanatical views at trial
KARL RITTER Associated Press= OSLO, Norway (AP) — In a scene unimaginable in many countries, Norway’s worst mass killer got the chance to explain his fanatical views to the court and the world, unrepentant and dressed in a business suit. Prosecutors and lawyers for the families of his 77 victims even shook his hand. Two days into Anders Behring Breivik’s terror trial, the way Norway’s legal system deals with a confessed killer who rejects its authority is baffling — even to some Norwegians. The 33-year-old far-right militant gave a rambling hour-long address to the court on Tuesday, reading from a statement that essentially summarized the 1,500-page anti-Islamic manifesto he posted online…

Here are the latest reports on New US Anti-Drug Policy Stresses Treatment, Prevention
Washington. The White House unveiled a new drug policy strategy on Tuesday that veers away from imposing heavy prison sentences for illicit drug use and focuses instead on prevention and treatment. Officials said the new approach looks at drug addiction as a treatable disease rather than a crime. “For US drug policy, this is nothing short of a revolution in how we approach drug control,” Gil Kerlikowske, director of the National Drug Control Center, told reporters at a press event. He added that “the strategy emphasizes the importance of bolstering efforts to prevent drug use before it starts.” “There’s a real reason to be optimistic that these reform efforts will reduce and continue to…
