Here are the latest reports on AP series about NYPD surveillance wins Pulitzer
The catalyst was a source’s cryptic hint: Ask about Ray Kelly’s rakers and mosque crawlers. Their curiosity piqued, two Associated Press investigative reporters began digging. As a result, the AP won a Pulitzer Prize for investigative reporting Monday for stories revealing that the New York Police Department – headed by Commissioner Raymond Kelly – had built an aggressive domestic intelligence program after the Sept. 11 attacks that put Muslim businesses, mosques and student groups under scrutiny. http://www.ap.org/media-center/nypd/investigation In a series of articles that began in August, investigative reporters Matt Apuzzo and Adam Goldman, along with colleagues Eileen Sullivan and Chris…
Canon firmware update for XF camcorders incoming, brings broadcast friendly format along

Here are the latest reports on Canon firmware update for XF camcorders incoming, brings broadcast friendly format along
Still loving your XF video shooter from Canon, but lamenting the lack of 1440 x 1080, 35 mbps HD? Better sit down on your director’s chair then, as it looks like a forthcoming firmware update for the series adds exactly this (at both 50i and 60i.) The format is popular with broadcast and news, and no doubt Canon is hoping to broaden the appeal of the XF line by bundling it in — or smoothing the workflow of existing owners. The update will be available to all four cameras in the range (XF100, XF105, XF300, and XF305,) and you’ll be able to start shooting with it from end of May.

Here are the latest reports on Must See HDTV (April 9th – April 15th)
This week the baseball season is in full swing and while we wait for the NBA to get its postseason started the NHL is already kicking off its race for the Stanley Cup. While that and racing action from all the major series should satisfy sports fans there’s also a few treats for fans of drama with the series finale of Justified and a Titanic miniseries (spoiler alert: you already know how it ends) and reality TV with the season premiere of Deadliest Catch. Finally, there aren’t any big name game releases but long awaited indie effort Fez is finally coming to Xbox Live Arcade April 13th, look for a trailer as well as our weekly listings after the break.
NHL Playoffs
The regular season is over and now the NHL Playoffs begin Wednesday night. The Rangers and the Canucks are at the top of the seeding but as we all know anything can happen. What will almost certainly happen is another fight between the Flyers and the Penguins. Our over/under on players suspended during the series is set at 2.
(All Week, NHL Network & NBC Sports Network)
Eastbound & Down
This week we say goodbye to Kenny Powers for the last time, as his minor and major league baseball hijinks come to an end after their third season on HBO. If you’d like a quick preview of where the story is going, there’s a trailer for the finale included after the break, but if you’re not a regular viewer it probably won’t make any sense.
(April 15, HBO, 10PM)
Justified
This FX series has become one of the best dramas on TV right now and this week in the season finale the interesting and engaging set of characters take each other on one last time. While we’re never quite sure what will go on with US Marshal Raylan Givens it’s a pretty fair bet that someone will get shot, it’s just a matter of who.
(April 10, FX, 10PM)

Everything old is new again: NVIDIA rebrands Fermi-based GT 520 and 510 into 600-series

Here are the latest reports on Everything old is new again: NVIDIA rebrands Fermi-based GT 520 and 510 into 600-series
NVIDIA may have trotted out a brand new beast, ripe with fresh Kepler architecture, but that doesn’t mean it put Fermi to bed. Allow us to introduce you to the GT 520 and the GT 510, or as they now prefer to be called, the GeForce GT 620 and GeForce 605, respectively. These OEM GPUs have traded half of their memory and a few clock speed tweaks for OpenGL 4.2 support and a low-end position in the firm’s new 600-series. Despite their very Kepler-esque numbering (and NVIDIA’s website placing them in the same “product family” as the flagship GTX 680), Tom’s Hardware says the firm’s Bryan Del Rizzo confirmed the 605 and 620 are Fermi-based graphics cards. Then again, not all cousins share the same surname. File this under “extended family” and call it a day.
